Ethnicity refers to the idea that someone belongs to a particular cultural, national, or racial group. That group may share some of the following elements: culture, religion, race, language, or place of origin. Race refers to that characteristics that those individuals or groups possess. These two areas are intertwined but not identical. Two people can be of the same race but have different ethnicities. During adolescence, the racial and ethnic identities are formed.
